Saren Dobkins
Art 1992 - 1997
I was living in Geelong, Victoria with two small children and referred to many memories for my subject matter. I had traveled around Europe and beyond in the past and I recalled certain moments on my travels and created paintings from pivotal times.
"Paris Cafe 3am" tells of being stranded on the streets of Paris at 3am after having hitchhiked from Amsterdam and that moment of trust of a perfect stranger, my future determined by the toss of a coin. Relationships, between myself and the children, partners and friends was a subject I also explored.
